It was another busy week at the Chamber, filled with celebrations, community service, networking, and conversations focused on the issues shaping our region's future.

 

The Membership Team kicked off the week by celebrating three Chamber members with ribbon cuttings. Blooms By Devin officially celebrated its grand opening on Monday, followed by The Familia Mexican Food on Tuesday and Empire Safety & Supply on Wednesday. We’re proud to celebrate these milestones alongside our members and wish each of these businesses continued success.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

This week also showcased the Chamber's commitment to giving back. Members of our Women in Business group volunteered their time to support several nonprofit organizations that are part of The Alliance: Defending the Cause of Kids & Families. Thank you to everyone who stepped away from their busy schedules to serve our community and make a meaningful difference.

 

 

On Wednesday evening, Chamber Ambassador Renee Perez graciously opened her home for this summer's bi-annual Ambassador Party, providing a wonderful opportunity for our Ambassador Team to connect and celebrate together. We are incredibly grateful for her hospitality and for creating such a welcoming space.

The Chamber's Ambassador Team, led by Chair Mark Becker of IT Pro Source and Team Captains Scott Otsuka of Infinity Home Loans, Zach Mongston of Bear Homes, and Renee Perez of DVS Appraisals Inc., plays an invaluable role in supporting our members throughout the year. Whether welcoming new businesses, assisting at Chamber events, or helping members build meaningful connections, our Ambassadors embody the collaborative spirit of the Roseville Area Chamber. Thursday morning, nearly 100 Chamber members and guests gathered at Randy Peters Event Center for the July Networking Breakfast, enjoying great food, meaningful conversations, and new connections with fellow business and community leaders.

 

 

 

 

The week concluded Friday with another outstanding Economic Development & Government Affairs Committee meeting at Randy Peters Event Center. This month's Healthcare Panel explored the opportunities and challenges surrounding our region's aging population and its impact on the local economy. Panelists included Austin Manning, President and CEO of Dignity Health Mercy San Juan Medical Center; Dr. Jonathan Porteus, CEO of WellSpace Health; Dr. Richard Florio, Physician in Chief for Kaiser Permanente Roseville Service Area; Dr. Vanessa Walker, Chief Medical Executive for Sutter Roseville Medical Center; and Dr. Rebecca Boxer, Professor of Geriatric Medicine at UC Davis Health. Thank you to Sutter Roseville Medical Center for sponsoring this important discussion.

The Chamber was also excited to see our 30th Annual SPLASH! featured on FOX40 this week, helping shine a spotlight on one of Roseville's favorite traditions. Hosted in partnership with the City of Roseville, SPLASH! returns on Saturday, September 12, bringing together the region's best wineries, breweries, restaurants, and live entertainment for an unforgettable evening of unlimited tasting, dancing, and community celebration. Thank you to everyone who helped spread the excitement as we look forward to another incredible event.

 

In advocacy updates, the Chamber continues monitoring legislation that could impact California's business climate.

SB 1123 would change how state agencies evaluate the economic impacts of major regulations by requiring projected benefits and savings to be included when calculating regulatory costs. While supporters believe this provides a more comprehensive analysis, opponents argue the approach could understate the true cost of compliance for employers and make it easier for costly regulations to move forward without sufficient review. The bill remains active and has been referred to the Assembly Committees on Economic Development, Growth & Household Impact and Judiciary.

The Chamber is also following AB 2124, which would require an independent analysis of legislation that could increase electricity or natural gas costs before lawmakers vote on those measures. Supporters believe the bill would improve transparency and provide policymakers with a clearer understanding of how proposed legislation could affect affordability, businesses, and California's economic competitiveness. AB 2124 has been re-referred to the Assembly Committee on Appropriations, and the Chamber will continue advocating for policies that promote thoughtful decision-making and a strong business climate.
