Chamber Highlights | Week Of Oct. 5-9
October 9, 2026
It was a week of masterminds, mixers, ribbon cuttings, and meaningful connections! From helping local entrepreneurs navigate business challenges to celebrating new businesses and connecting young professionals with community leaders, the Roseville Area Chamber was busy bringing our business community together.

The week began with our Entrepreneur Development Group (EDG), led by Dr. Brian Gladden of Strategy & Innovation Institute and Stacey Kauffman of SK Collective. About 15 business owners participated in a collaborative discussion and mastermind session, sharing challenges and exploring ideas to help move their businesses forward.

A big thank-you to Topgolf for hosting our monthly Ambassador meeting! Lunch was delicious, and the team provided exceptional service. We’re incredibly grateful for our dedicated Chamber Ambassadors, whose commitment to supporting members, welcoming new businesses, and fostering meaningful connections is an essential part of what makes our Chamber community so special.
First Northern Bank also hosted a fantastic Member Mixer at its branch, bringing members together for an evening of networking, live music, wine from Hill Top Oaks Winery, brews from Monk’s Cellar, and bites from Culture & Crumb.

We appreciate First Northern Bank for creating such a welcoming space for members to connect!

We also celebrated the grand opening of the Universal Conservatory of Ballet with a ribbon cutting, marking another exciting milestone for a local business.

Our young professionals gathered at Rooftop Macarons for the October IGNITE Coffee Chat. Thank you to the Rooftop Macarons team for providing a welcoming space to connect, and to Kara Wilson of CASA of Placer, Yuba & Sutter for sharing insights into CASA’s mission and how young professionals can advocate for children in foster care.

We’re also pleased to welcome six new members to the Chamber:
- Flashback Memory Magnets
- Boot Barn
- Darren Paquette – Keller Williams Realty, Roseville
- Enoven Truck Body & Equipment
- Brand Lift 360
- Homecare by Athena
Thank you for choosing to be part of our business community!

On Thursday, the Chamber hosted the District 6 Congressional Candidates Forum featuring Congressman Kevin Kiley and Dr. Richard Pan, the two candidates for the newly formed district. Moderated by Nikki Laurenzo of FOX40, the discussion covered how each candidate would approach representing the new district, support California’s business community, prioritize regional infrastructure investments, and navigate the relationship between federal policy and state priorities.
We appreciate both candidates for sharing their perspectives and giving our members and the greater community an opportunity to learn more about the issues affecting our region. Thank you to our sponsors, Aborn Powers and Roseville Environmental Utilities, for making the forum possible, and to everyone who attended in person or virtually. A full recording is available for those who missed the event.
Finally, Governor Newsom has signed over 20 employment-related bills, impacting employer operations in California, based on those passed in the 2025-2026 California
legislative session. Here are 3 that members should be aware of:
- AB 1697 - “Stay or Pay” Effective Date Fix: This will push back the 2025 Anti-Trap Act’s restrictions on stay or pay repayment clauses, so they apply to contracts entered on or after January 1, 2027, rather than January 1, 2026. Expands the new hire bonus exception to include post-hire bonuses, and adds new exceptions for grant funded programs, securities or insurance producer agreements, and advanced paid time off benefits. Carries an urgency clause. This was signed on September 30th, 2026, and is effective immediately.
- AB 1331 - Workplace Surveillance in Private Areas: AB 1331 prohibits employers from using surveillance tools in workplace bathrooms or requiring employees to wear tracking devices while in those areas, with limited exceptions for safety cameras and court orders. Civil penalties of up to $500 per violation. This was signed on September 30th, 2026, and goes into effect on January 1st, 2027.
- SB 1237 - Pay Data Reporting Penalties: This raises the civil penalty for an employer’s subsequent failure to file a required pay data report with the Civil Rights Department from up to $200 per employee to up to $1,000 per employee. The first failure to file penalty remains up to $100 per employee. This was signed on September 30th, 2026, and goes into effect on January 1st, 2027.
From peer-to-peer problem-solving and member celebrations to community engagement and important policy updates, it was another great week of connecting business and strengthening community!
