It was another week of connection, collaboration, and community engagement as Chamber members gathered to learn, network, and celebrate the continued growth of businesses throughout the region.

 

 

The week began Tuesday with the Chamber's July Luncheon, where nearly 100 members and guests gathered to enjoy a delicious meal from Randy Peters Catering while hearing an update on current city projects from Melissa Anguiano, Roseville's Economic Development Director.

Attendees gained valuable insight into the exciting developments helping shape Roseville's future and the opportunities they create for businesses and the community alike.

 

 

 

 

On Wednesday, the Membership Team welcomed 25 new members during the July Chamber Orientation, introducing them to the many resources, benefits, and opportunities available through Chamber membership.

It's always exciting to welcome new businesses into our growing network and help them make the most of their investment in the Chamber.

 

 

That same day, the Chamber's IGNITE Young Professionals hosted a unique behind-the-scenes experience at Thunder Valley Casino Resort. Led by General Manager Dawn Clayton, attendees received an exclusive look at the operations behind one of the region's premier entertainment destinations while learning about the resort's economic impact, hospitality operations, and the wide variety of career paths that contribute to its success.

The event also provided valuable networking opportunities and a rare glimpse into a destination many know from the guest perspective but few have experienced from behind the scenes. Thank you to Thunder Valley Casino Resort for hosting and to everyone who joined us for an engaging afternoon.

In advocacy updates, the Chamber is monitoring developments surrounding California's SB 343, the state's "Truth in Recycling" law. Earlier this week, the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of California temporarily blocked enforcement of the law while an ongoing legal challenge proceeds. SB 343, which was scheduled to take effect on October 4, would establish new standards governing when products and packaging can be marketed as recyclable.

The lawsuit, filed by Californians for Affordable Packaging and other business organizations, argues that portions of the law violate First Amendment protections related to commercial speech. The court determined that the plaintiffs are likely to succeed on several of their claims and issued a preliminary injunction preventing the law from being enforced until the case is resolved. While the litigation continues, businesses that would be impacted by the new requirements should continue monitoring the case as a final decision has not yet been reached.

 

Looking ahead, we invite the community to join us for the annual State of the City Address on Thursday, August 20, at the Placer Valley Soccer Complex. Mayor Krista Bernasconi will share updates on major city initiatives, economic development, and the projects helping keep Roseville one of the best places to live, work, and do business. The event is free to attend, with an optional VIP Breakfast available for those who would like to begin the morning with additional networking opportunities. Guests can also enjoy interactive experiences, giveaways, and opportunities to connect with local businesses throughout the event.

 

Be sure to also mark your calendars for the Roseville Area Business PAC Fundraiser on Thursday, August 27, in the Garden Room at @the Grounds. This annual event brings together business leaders, elected officials, and community partners for an evening of networking while supporting the Roseville Area Business PAC and its mission to advocate for a strong local business climate. Whether you're looking to strengthen existing relationships or make new connections, it's always a great evening dedicated to supporting the future of Roseville's business community.
