The Membership Team was busy creating connections, providing resources, and supporting members in meaningful ways throughout the week, with opportunities to learn, celebrate, and build relationships across our business community.

The week kicked off Tuesday with our Entrepreneur Development Group (EDG), a mastermind-style gathering designed for entrepreneurs and small business owners. Led by Marcie Shelton of The Leader’s Partner and Brian Gladden of Strategy & Innovation Institute, the session brought together 20 members to collaborate, share challenges, and gain valuable insights to help them navigate the complexities of running a business.

Later that day, Ambassadors and representatives from elected officials gathered to welcome Escapology to the Roseville Area Chamber community with a ribbon cutting celebration. Guests had the opportunity to get a first look at Escapology’s new escape rooms while celebrating this exciting addition to the local business community.

 

 

Wednesday brought another full day of member engagement, beginning with the monthly Ambassador Meeting, followed by a Business Bootcamp focused on the Entrepreneur Operating System (EOS). Facilitated by Brian Gladden of Strategy & Innovation Institute, the Bootcamp provided practical tools designed to help businesses gain clarity, alignment, and greater operational effectiveness.

The day wrapped up with the August Member Mixer at the newly renovated Sierra View Country Club, where members enjoyed an evening of networking, conversation, and new connections in a beautiful setting.

 

Thursday brought another exciting ribbon cutting as the Chamber celebrated the local debut of Jollibee, welcoming this much-anticipated new addition to our community.

 

The week then wrapped up Friday with a Brewing Connections morning mixer at Fig Tree Coffee, sponsored by Ellie’s Coaching. Members gathered over coffee for meaningful conversations and another opportunity to strengthen relationships throughout the Chamber network.

From education and collaboration to celebration and connection, it was another inspiring week of helping our members grow and thrive. We also took time to recognize our new and renewing members from July, celebrating the businesses that continue to invest in and strengthen our Chamber community.

 

Speaking of community connections, the second edition of the Coffee Passport has arrived and now features The Daily Nosh as our newest coffee destination. There’s still time to sip local, collect stamps, and support the incredible coffee community throughout Roseville. And with this year’s program coming to a close at SPLASH! on September 12, be sure to turn in your completed passport at the event, where we’ll wrap up the program and announce our raffle winners. We can’t wait to celebrate with you!

 

That celebration will be part of an especially exciting evening as we mark the 30th Anniversary of SPLASH! on Saturday, September 12, at the Roseville Aquatics Complex. Tickets are selling quickly, so be sure to secure yours before we sell out and join us for an evening filled with food, beverages, live entertainment, and fun experiences celebrating the history of this beloved community tradition.

A portion of the event proceeds will support Roseville’s underserved communities, and sponsorship opportunities are still available for businesses looking to make an even greater community impact. Sponsors also receive early VIP entry and guaranteed tickets for their guests.

 

Looking ahead, State of the City 2026 is just two weeks away on Thursday, August 20, at the Placer Valley Soccer Complex. The VIP Breakfast will take place from 7:00–9:00 a.m., with tickets available for $35 for Chamber members and $50 for non-members. The State of the City Address is free and open to the public and will begin promptly at 9:00 a.m. on Field 5. Attendees are asked to arrive and be seated by 8:45 a.m. to ensure a timely start. And don’t forget your fresh, turf-friendly sneakers—no heels, please, as we help preserve the new complex! We look forward to celebrating our incredible city with everyone in attendance.

 

In advocacy updates, the California Department of Tax and Fee Administration (CDTFA) recently held a public listening session on Senate Bill 122, which expands California’s sales tax to Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) and other digital products beginning January 1, 2027.

While final guidance has not yet been issued, the discussion highlighted several areas of concern for businesses, including how digital sales  will be sourced for tax purposes, how multi-year contracts signed before the effective date will be treated, potential changes to tax collection responsibilities for large transactions, and the timeline for additional regulations.

The CDTFA expects to release further guidance this fall, with emergency regulations planned to take effect when the law becomes effective on January 1, 2027. Businesses that buy or sell SaaS or other digital products should begin reviewing their contracts, tax compliance processes, and reporting obligations now to prepare for the new requirements.
