It was another full week at the Roseville Area Chamber, with members coming together to learn, connect, celebrate local businesses, and advocate for the issues impacting our regional business community.

 

The Membership Team kicked off the week with the Home Services Roundtable, bringing together 20 members from the home services industry for an opportunity to connect and share ideas. Attendees heard from John Shanahan of Lighthouse Window Cleaning, who shared insights on how business owners can build and maintain positive online reviews—an increasingly important tool for building trust and attracting new customers.

 

Tuesday brought nearly 100 members together for the August Luncheon at Randy Peters Event Center. Guests enjoyed a great meal while hearing from Dr. Jenni Murphy of Sacramento State's Continuing Education Department about workforce development and continuing education programs. The conversation highlighted opportunities available to businesses and professionals looking to strengthen their skills and support the development of our region's workforce.

 

The Women in Business Group gathered Thursday for a marketing-focused panel featuring Ann Bouchard of Bouchard Communications, Jen Esparza of The Jen Advantage, Tami Thompson of Grata Marketing, and Ash Schafer of The Local Line. The panelists shared their marketing expertise and practical insights with attendees. A special thank you to Rachael Burns of True Worth Consulting for serving as our Breakfast Bites & Coffee Sponsor and to Marcie Shelton of The Leader's Partner for leading the meeting.

 

The Chamber also celebrated two valued members with ribbon cuttings this week. Sierra View Country Club showcased its newly redesigned event space and dining area, while Primrose School of Roseville at Blue Oaks marked another exciting milestone with its ribbon cutting celebration.

Friday morning brought another opportunity for connection as young professionals gathered for this month's IGNITE Coffee Chat, hosted by The Daily Nosh. It was great to see members bright and early, building relationships while enjoying one of Roseville's local coffee hotspots.

 

Speaking of local coffee, the Roseville Coffee Passport took center stage this week as Chamber President & CEO Ananda Rochita joined Daksha Shah of The Bean Roasting Co. on Studio 40 on FOX40 to talk all things Coffee Passport. The segment highlighted the incredible local coffee experiences available throughout our community, including Bloom Coffee and The Daily Nosh, while shining a spotlight on the small businesses that make Roseville's coffee culture so special.

 

 

The Chamber's advocacy efforts also took us to Sacramento this week. On Wednesday, August 12, our United Chamber Advocacy Network (UCAN) Coalition gathered at the Capitol to discuss legislative priorities with legislators from across Northern California and advocate for the needs of businesses throughout our region.

One bill highlighted during the visit was AB 2564, which the coalition is opposing. The legislation would make it more difficult for businesses to offer personalized discounts by requiring discounts to meet specific exemptions and publication requirements. Failure to comply could result in per-instance and per-customer penalties. Members of the UCAN Coalition shared how these requirements could affect businesses and community organizations, including those offering discounts to veterans and other service providers.

Later that evening, the Chamber hosted its Legislative Reception at the California Manufacturers & Technology Association (CMTA), bringing together local elected officials and legislators, UCAN Coalition members, sponsors, and community leaders for an evening of advocacy and connection.
